After Performance

We invite your family to attend our unique production of the famous Nutcracker ballet performed by ASCB students.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s musical score, The Nutcracker is one of the most beloved holiday performances. Our production blends exquisite choreography, beautiful costumes and an intimate environment that will draw you into the story as a personal guest of the Stahlbaum’s family.
Join Clara as she participates in an epic battle between the Nutcracker and the Mouse King and travels through the enchanted Winter Forest to the Kingdom of Sweets.
Pre-show activities include holiday shopping, ruffle contests, and visits from cast members. A few lucky children will even win a special gift from Herr Drosselmeyer himself – an invitation to go on stage and participate in the play.

A Holiday Celebration
November 30 - December 2, 2011

Come Deck the Halls with The Phoenix Symphony and take your students on a snowy adventure at Symphony Hall! Highlights include annual holiday Sing Along, a reading of The Night Before Christmas, selections from The Nutcracker and the ever-popular Sleigh Ride!

Happy Birthday Arizona!
February 22 & 23, 2012

As part of the symphony’s Arizona Centennial celebrations, our final Symphony for the Schools concert will present a program inspired by the land, history and culture of our great state. Musical highlights include Grofe’s popular Grand Canyon Suite and Danzon No. 2 by Marquez.
It wouldn’t be a party without a chance to sing-along as the orchestra plays Happy Birthday and America the Beautiful. Students will also be invited to submit artwork inspired by Arizona landscapes. Come celebrate Arizona’s 100th year of statehood with us!

Students will conclude their dance training by performing classical and contemporary repertoire on stage.

The program includes:

Class - Concert
Divertissement
One-act ballet – Day in the Village
The best of ballet – excerpts from "La Fille Mal Gardée"

Original version, with choreography by Dauberval, was premiered in 1789 in Bordeaux, France. It has been revived in a dozen different forms since then, most importantly in Paris in 1828, with a new score by Herold, in St Petersburg in 1885, with music by Hertel and choreography by Petipa and (mostly) Ivanov, and in 1960 at the Royal Opera House in London, choreographed by Sir Frederick Ashton.
